By using Notary Journal, you agree to these terms. Read them before you rely on the app for your record.
What the app is
Notary Journal is a record-keeping tool. It does not give legal advice. It helps you keep a sequential, by-state journal of notarial acts on your own device. You are responsible for confirming that your state authorizes an electronic journal for the act you are performing, and for verifying the current statute that governs your commission.
The ruleset
The per-state field templates in the app are cited to a statute and stamped with a ruleset version. They are a convenience, and they can fall out of date when a state changes its law. Treat them as a starting point and reconcile them against primary sources. You, not the app, are the notary of record.
Your record
Your journal lives on your device. You are responsible for keeping your device secure, for backing up your exports, and for retaining your record for as long as your state requires. We cannot recover entries from a lost, wiped, or damaged device, because we never hold a copy.
License
You get a personal, non-transferable license to use the app on devices you own or control. Do not copy, resell, or reverse-engineer it.
Purchases
The unlock is sold through the App Store. Refunds and billing are handled by Apple under Apple's terms.
No warranty and limit of liability
The app is provided "as is," with no warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, the developer is not liable for any loss arising from your use of the app, including any claim related to the accuracy, completeness, or legal sufficiency of a journal entry. Your use of the app is at your own risk, and your compliance with notary law is your own responsibility.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Changes
If these terms change, the updated version will be posted here with a new date at the top.
